Bye Bye Sarawak Tribune
If you have not heard, The Sarawak Tribune will no longer be in circulation, thanks to its publication of the controversial reproduction of the caricatures of Prophet Muhammad. Sometimes I wonder what’s up with the head of the editors of our 61-years-old Daily. They clearly know it is wrong, and yet they dare to put the headline "Cartoon Not Much Impact Here" together with the caricature. Well… now they know whether the impact is there or not!
According to The Star, Sarawak Tribune’s board of directors had decided to self-impose an indefinite suspension on publication at their meeting in Sibu yesterday morning. "There may not be a Sarawak Tribune anymore", said Senator Datuk Idris Buang, the daily’s editorial advisor.
Well… guess this is it. No more Sarawak Tribune. Guess Borneo Post will have the last laugh now. Hmmm… perhaps People’s Mirror will make a comeback! *smiles* Who knows… you cant have only one local daily here right? So… anyone into a joint-venture?
CLOSED for Business!

I don’t know if it’s true but it was alleged that the editor on duty didn’t go through proper procedures and hence published the caricature without the approval of the chief of editor.

Sad for the people working in Sarawak Tribune. I feel the closing is very unfair to them. Why do they have to go to such extend to please the angry muslim? Don’t they think they are spoiling them? Firing the the people responsible & having apologies published would hav been sufficient.

Alvin… when it comes to defense… both of them have their stories to tell. Kinda hard to figure out who is telling the truth, and who is not.
Nigel… Yea… kinda sad that a Sarawak Tribune goes to grave. Its been here for so long. But to be honest, the paper does not have much contents… only politics.
Gab… yes… it is really unfair to the employees. The closure is too sudden for them. There are people there with family to feed and bills to pay. Their compensation plan better be good or else we will see lawyer making more money.
